Celebrate Culture Night early in Poetry Week. On Friday 17th September two local poets with international reputations team up with a Dublin actor to present an informal reading of poems by Francis Ledwidge and to recognize one Lord Dunsany’s generous and vital support for two writers from County Meath.Taking part will be Rachael Dowling, Peter Fallon and Tom French.
Rachael Dowling’s film debut was playing Lily in John Huston’s now classic film adaptation of James Joyce’s The Dead. Since then she has worked extensively on stage and screen both in Ireland and the USA. Her most recent stage appearance was at The Abbey Theatre. Rachael currently appears in KIN on RTÉ / AMC+ television.
Peter Fallon lives in Loughcrew where he runs The Gallery Press. His books of poems have appeared in many countries, in English and in translation, and he has taught at various universities, including Trinity College, Dublin, and Boston College.
Tom French has published six collections of poems with The Gallery Press and has received a Forward Prize and the O’Shaughnessy Award. He lives by the coast of County Meath and works in the local studies department of the County library services.
