The Gallery Press delights in the news that Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh is this year’s recipient of the O’Shaughnessy Award for Poetry. She joins other poets published by The Gallery Press who have received this accolade, most recently Peter Sirr, Michael Coady, Kerry Hardie, Seán Lysaght and Tom French.
The Coast Road, a bilingual selection of her poems, features translations by thirteen of Ireland’s leading poets, among them Paul Muldoon, Vona Groarke, Medbh McGuckian, Peter Sirr and Michelle O’Sullivan and was published in 2016.
In late April Ailbhe will travel with her new daughter, Éabha, to the University of St Thomas in Minneapolis where the $5000 award will be presented on April 27th.
