The Rose-Geranium comprises two sequences, ‘Cork’ and ‘The Rose-Geranium’, and five other poems by one of the best poets in Ireland today.
‘Cork’ was written in response to a series of drawings by Brian Lalor of the author’s native city and was published previously, in somewhat different form, with those drawings. The Rose-Geranium depicts a human landscape. In it, people occupy the foreground. Their presences and absences are felt through Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin’s complex and imaginative vision and her accomplished craftsmanship.
