Congratulations to poets Annemarie Ní Churreáin (Hymn to All the Restless Girls) and Pat Boran (Hedge School) on being selected as joint winners of the 2026 Michael Hartnett Award.
The prestigious Michael Hartnett Poetry Award is jointly funded by the Limerick City and County Council Arts Office and the Arts Council of Ireland to honor the literary legacy of poet Michael Hartnett. The prize alternates annually between Irish and English-language works. In 2026, the focus was on English-language poetry published between 2024 and 2025, specifically looking at a poet’s third or subsequent book. This year’s adjudicators were Gerard Smyth, poet and Aosdána member, and Jo Slade, poet and former Hartnett winner.
