Poetry at the LexIconPoetry at the LexIcon presents three dynamic and imaginative poets, Romalyn Ante, Mary Jean Chan, and Annemarie Ní Churreáin, whose work helps us to understand the chaos and uncertainty of current times. Each examines how our history shapes the way we look at the world today. Touching on hugely diverse themes, we visit Hong Kong, Donegal and the Philippines, and are united by tenderness and humanity. These writers have an astonishing use of language and their poetry never fails to bring us somewhere unexpected. Rosamund Taylor hosts an uplifting and surprising evening with these poets.

Romalyn Ante is a Filipino-British, Wolverhampton-based poet, essayist, translator, and editor. She is co-founding editor of harana poetry, a magazine for poets who write in English as a second or parallel language, and founder of Tsaá with Roma, an online interview series with poets and other creatives. Her debut collection, Antiemetic for Homesickness came out with Chatto & Windus in 2020. She was recently awarded the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship 2021/22.

Mary Jean Chan is the author of Flèche, published by Faber & Faber (2019). Flèche won the 2019 Costa Book Award for Poetry and was shortlisted in 2020 for the International Dylan Thomas Prize and the Seamus Heaney Centre First Collection Poetry Prize. Chan won the 2018 Geoffrey Dearmer Prize and was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem twice. In Spring 2020, Chan was guest co-editor at The Poetry Review. Chan is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing (Poetry) at Oxford Brookes University and is a supervisor on the MSt in Creative Writing at the University of Oxford.

Annemarie Ní Churreáin is a poet from the Donegal Gaeltacht. Her books include Bloodroot (Doire Press, 2017), Town (The Salvage Press 2018) and The Poison Glen (The Gallery Press, 2021). Ní Churreáin is a recipient of The Next Generation Award from the Arts Council of Ireland and a co-recipient of The Markievicz Award. She has been Writer-In-Residence at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Germany, Jack Kerouac House in Florida, and Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris. Ní Churreáin is 2022 Guest Editor of The Cormorant Issue 7 and The Stony Thursday Book 44. More information visit www.studiotwentyfive.com
