Image of newspaper article in the Meath Chronicle about Michael Kane artist and his contribution to The Gallery Press book covers. There has been a wealth of coverage involving Gallery Press authors and contributors in the newspapers over the past week. The Meath Chronicle highlights Michael Kane’s contribution to our book covers in a tribute to our recently departed friend. The Chronicle also features Tom French‘s new poetry collection, The Convent of Mercy.

The Sunday Independent asks Vona Groarke about her ‘Life in Books’ and she mentions that one of her books of the year so far is Over Here, the recently published fifth collection by Alan Gillis.

Vona also features in The Irish Times in an interview about her upcoming role as Ireland Professor of Poetry. She states that, ‘The best thing that could happen for Irish poetry is for people to buy poetry books. If you give [someone] a novel, it’s just one world; if you give a poetry book, you give a multiplicity of worlds.’ And Paul Muldoon and Kamala Sankaram’s new opera, Custom of the Custom (published by The Gallery Press in 2024) runs across a two-page spread ahead of it’s première at Kilkenny Arts Festival on 8 August. Also in The Irish Times is Molly Twomey’s poem, ‘What I Did on the Sideline’ from her new collection, Chic To Be Sad, as the Poem of the Week in The Ticket.
