Congratulations to Paul Muldoon on being conferred a Saoi of Aosdána.Paul was conferred at a special ceremony held at Áras an Uachtaráin, presided over by President Michael D Higgins on Thursday 6th February 2025, to mark the election of the Ireland Professor of Poetry and Aosdána member Paul Muldoon to Saoi of Aosdána.
The honour of Saoi is bestowed for singular and sustained distinction in the arts. The President presented Professor Muldoon with the symbol of the office, a gold Torc. The ceremony took place in Áras an Uachtarán.
President Michael D. Higgins, said:
“Reflecting upon a lifetime of outstanding creative work, which continues, it is such a pleasure to congratulate Paul Muldoon on being chosen by his peers in the world of arts and culture for this honour and, mar Uachtarán na hÉireann, to thank him for all that he has given, and all that he continues to give to us and to the world of Irish literature.
