UCD Writer in Residence Annemarie Ní ChurreáinCongratulations to Annemarie Ní Churreáin on being chosen as the 2025 Arts Council/UCD Writer in Residence and also our congratulations to all the other artists who were selected for 2025 residencies.⁠

The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon partner with third level institutions across Ireland on the residencies, working to help embed creativity in education:

‘The Arts Council is delighted to announce the recipients of its 2025 Artist in Residence awards across Literature, Film, and Traditional Arts. They join the six artists and organisations previously awarded residencies in Higher Education Institutes for the 2024-2025 academic year, with a focus on children and young people’s arts.

These residencies, developed in partnership with leading third-level institutions, are a cornerstone of the Arts Council’s commitment to fostering artistic excellence and enriching educational environments.’  www.artscouncil.ie

Annemarie Ní Churreáin comes from the Donegal Gaeltacht. Bloodroot, published by Doire Press in 2017, was shortlisted for the Shine Strong Award and the Julie Suk Award. She is a recipient of a Next Generation Artist Award and co-recipient of the Markievicz Award. She has received literary fellowships from USA, Germany and Scotland and was Writer-in-Residence at NUI, Maynooth, and Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris. She was a 2022 Decades of Centenaries Artist in Residence at Donegal County Archives Service. Ní Churreáin is also a librettist and theatre writer. The Poison Glen is her first collection with The Gallery Press.
