Poetry Day Ireland takes place on Thursday 24 April 2024. This year’s theme is ‘Good Sports’ celebrating the good sport in all of us, the drive to give it a go or to have a crack at it.

6.00-8.30pmMícheál McCann and Vona Groarke will read and be in conversation with ATU creative writing students about their poetry and inspirations. Mícheál McCann will introduce Yeats Society Sligo, Ireland‘s new Poet in Residence, Vona Groarke who is currently writer in residence at University of Cambridge. She will read from her work and be awarded Poet in Residence at Yeats Society Sligo. The term runs for two years.
