Enjoy a feast of music and poetry in three of Ireland’s great historic houses, introduced by Olivia O’Leary, acclaimed journalist and presenter of RTÉ Radio 1’s Poetry Programme. Produced by Poetry Ireland in partnership with the OPW.
Olivia O’Leary’s guests at Derrynane House are the renowned poet Vona Groarke, award-winning novelist Mary Costello and The Irish Times ‘Album of the Year’ winning singer-songwriter Julie Feeney. Standing at the very tip of the stunning Iveragh Peninsula, Derrynane was the ancestral home of Daniel O’Connell, one of the great figures in modern Irish history, and now displays many relics of his life and political career.
Published by The Gallery Press, Vona Groarke received the Hennessy Hall of Fame award in 2017 for outstanding contribution to literature. Mary Costello’s collection of short stories, The China Factory, was nominated for the Guardian First Book Award, and her novel Academy Street was the winner of the Irish Book Awards Novel of the Year in 2014. Julie Feeney’s sell-out shows have riveted audiences and critics all over the world. Her third album Clocks went straight to No. 1 in the Independent Irish Album Charts on its Irish release and received The Irish Times ‘Album of the Year’ award.
